Overview

This 600-lumen solar light has a 3W panel built in and ships with a separate 5W panel on a 3-metre waterproof lead, so the lamp can sit under an eave, inside a shed doorway or on a shaded wall while the panel soaks up sun outside. PIR and light sensors switch it on only when it is dark and someone approaches.

How it works
Most solar lights fail in shaded spots because the panel is fixed to the lamp. Here the lamp has its own 3W panel for open positions, plus a 5W external panel on a 3-metre cable for places where the fixture must sit in shade. Both feed the same 4400mAh battery, and a DC input allows mains top-up if needed. At night the light sensor arms the PIR, which switches the 600-lumen head on whenever movement is detected.
